Edcouch-Elsa ISD Announces Exciting District Battle of the Books Competition for Elementary and Middle School Students
Edcouch-Elsa, TX — May 6, 2024 — Edcouch-Elsa Independent School District (EEISD) is thrilled to announce the return of its Battle of the Books competition for elementary and middle school students. This initiative aims to foster a love for literature, promote literacy, and engage students in an exciting literary challenge.
After careful planning, the district has decided to kickstart the Battle of the Books journey with a district-wide competition. This will allow students to utilize the books that were ordered last year and re-acquaint themselves with the Battle of the Books format.
“We are excited to provide our students with the opportunity to participate in the District Battle of the Books competition,” said Mr. Jesus Ramos, Biliteracy Director at Edcouch-Elsa ISD. “This initiative not only promotes literacy but also encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and a passion for reading among our students.”
The Battle of the Books will take place on Friday, May 10 from 2 - 4 p.m. at Carlos F. Truan Jr. High School. A traveling trophy will be awarded to the Elementary & Middle School Team with the highest score. Individual 1st Place medals will be awarded to each Elementary & Middle School Team member. Parents will be allowed to attend the Battle of the Books event. They will be advised to stay in a designated area once the competition starts.
By engaging students in the Battle of the Books competition, Edcouch-Elsa ISD aims to inspire a lifelong love for reading and learning, nurturing the intellectual curiosity of its students. Edcouch-Elsa ISD would like to spotlight the following sponsors for their support in this initiative:
