EEISD's Stock Market Club Ranked #1 in the Region
November 8, 2024 - Edcouch-Elsa, Texas — Edcouch-Elsa High School's Stock Market Club, led by sponsor Jack Jasso, has earned top honors as the #1 ranked team in the region, competing against over 100 students from schools like Veterans Memorial, Victoria East, Laredo United, and Premont Early College. This achievement marks an exciting milestone for the club, now in its third year, as they continue to develop students’ skills in financial literacy and strategic thinking.
“One of the most promising attributes that this club brings is it allows students to develop, hone, and practice real world investing,” Dr. Jesse Fidelio Garza, Public Relations Administrator shared.
Each student in the Stock Market Club manages an individual portfolio in a simulated Stock Market Game, learning to analyze trends, monitor market shifts, and make investment decisions based on news and insider reports. Through hands-on experience and real time market tracking, students are gaining insights that equip them with practical financial skills.
The following students have contributed to the club's success:

Student Insights
The students of EdcouchElsa’s Stock Market Club are finding ways to apply their new knowledge to real world situations and preparing for financial independence. Here are some insights from club members:
“I joined the Stock Market Club to gain practical financial knowledge. Learning to monitor stocks and understand market changes is something I know I’ll use in the future,” Daniela Anguiano shared. “Following trends and understanding how one move by a celebrity or president can impact the stock market has been eye opening. I predict that electronic stocks will rise soon—an area worth investing in early to build a solid retirement plan,” Ashley Flores agreed.
“Building a portfolio is about knowing when to buy. Sometimes intuition plays a role, but research is essential. Learning how to analyze stocks will help me make informed decisions later in life,” Maira Salas added.
For senior Fatima Camacho, she looks forward to using this knowledge post graduation. “Now that I’m aware of investing, I’m looking at various industries, from energy to waste management. Learning about stocks like Dutch Bros, MicroStrategy, and oil has broadened my investment knowledge,” Fatima added.
The students are making predictions based on current trends, including expectations that companies in the electronic sector will see increased growth, while others may decline. They’re also recognizing key industry developments, such as Krispy Kreme’s potential collaboration with McDonald’s, which they predict could positively impact Krispy Kreme’s stock performance.
